Zambia’s central banks economics chief Dr. Francis Chipimo has ascended to the role of Deputy Governor Operations. This appointment fills a lacuna left by Dr. Bwalya Ng’andu’s appointment to head the governments fiscal unit, the Ministry of Finance. Dr. Chipimo’s appointment was made as part of cabinet reshuffles announced on 19 July in the capital Lusaka.
Dr. Chipimo is an astute economist with a wealth of experience, having been at the helm of Zambia monetary policy management for over a decade at Director level. He has contributed significantly to financial sector stability that Zambia has experienced in the last two decades. He also served as advisor to the Minister of Finance.
Prior to his move to the Bank of Zambia, he served as Senior Economist at the MinFin.
