    Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants adds Harvard graduate to its C-suite

    The local accounting institute in Africa’s copper producer, Zambia, has appointed Bonna Kashinga, a Harvard graduate to head its operations effective 01 January 2019. This was contained in a press release shared by the Office of the Chief Executive Officer at the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants – ZICA. Kashinga will take over from Hapenga Kabeta as Chief Executive Officer beginning of next year.

    Bonna Kashinga is a holder of the Master in Public Administration degree from Harvard University and an Edward S. Mason Fellow in Public Policy & Management from Harvard University. He also holds a Master of Science in Development Finance from The University of Manchester, a Bachelors (Honours) degree in Accounting & Finance and a Diploma in Professional Accounting both from Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland.

    His experience spans from Real estate to Banking and compliance having served as Partner at Urban Africa Real Estate – UARE, Chief Executive Officer and Project Head for   Quantum Mining Housing Unit Ltd, Head Compliance & Head Private/Executive Banking – Stanbic Bank, Senior Inspector at the Bank of Zambia and Audit Senior at Deloitte Audit firm.

    “I find Mr. Kashinga as an out of the box finance professional with over 17 years of work experience. He brings to the institute value added experience from public practice, the banking sector and real estate business having worked for Deloitte, Stanbic and Quantum home loans unit a subsidiary of FQM in senior management roles. Prior to the appointment he was Partner, Director and Company Secretary at the UARE Group Ltd,” ZICA President and KPMG Chief Executive Officer ans Senior Partner Jason Kazilimani said.

    Kashinga took up an appointment as Chief Operations Officer – COO effective 01 November as he transitions into Chief Executive Officer on 01 Jan 2019.
