LUSAKA (The Business Telegraph):- She’s not new to the C-suite having served as Chief Finance Officer (CFO) for Zambia National Building Society – ZNBS a role she assumed after her stint at Africa Oxygen – Afrox in the same capacity. She started out her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an auditor. Mildred Mutesa  is a seasoned finance practitioner with a pedigree of excellence who joins the ranks of the feminine power base of leaders giving strategic direction to financial and non bank financial institutions. Just a few months ago Zambia celebrated Lowani Chibesakunda’s ascension to Citibank’s top job while Mukwandi Chibesakunda will take up mantle to drive the country’s big strong reliable bank ZANACO Plc on 01 October. Mildred Mutesa takes over strategic leadership of Zambia’s top building society with immediate effect after acting as Managing Director for 9-months following the exit of the previous Managing Director.

On her clock, she has driven home ownership performance harder as ZNBS focuses on getting more Zambians to have roofs on top their heads in the most affordable manner through products such as Nyumba Yabanja (affordable family home) which requires a zero percent deposit as she targets to empower Zambians.

ZNBS has not been left behind in the digital space especially in COVID period as it embraced the Tinika Chabe (Just Press) mobile banking solution competing with other mobile apps in the banking industry while it offers very handy products such as quick salary advances for the middle class looking to bridge finance school fee funding.

ZNBS as a building society has invested in infrastructure that is rented to SMEs as it plays in the real estate sector.

“I am humbled by this appointment and will endeavor to drive home ownership for citizens. We will seek to make ZNBS a leader in the mortgage finance space,” Mutesa said.

Mildred Mutesa is a fellow and member of the Association of Certified and Chartered Accounts – ACCA. She holds a Master of Business Administration – MBA from Edinburgh Business School and an Accounting Bachelors from the Copperbelt University.
