Women in Zambia face many challenges, despite women being an incredible untapped resource that can contribute positively to the nation both socially and economically. Through the Anakazi Banking Zambian Women of the Year Awards we hope to recognize and inspire women to continue to be important contributors to the growth of the Zambian economy

Karen Nakawala, who has been organizing the Zambian woman of the year awards since 2014, is pleased with Stanbic’s Anakazi Banking involvement in the award ceremony.

“We are extremely delighted to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in Zambia in various fields. These talented women are reshaping their respective fields and helping to create more opportunities for their fellow women. As organizers, this is a very exciting moment. Stanbic fits the bill because of their support to women entrepreneurs through their various innovative platforms such as the Anakazi Banking,” she said.

Anakazi Banking was introduced by Stanbic Bank in 2017 and focuses on both increased access to finance and capacity building activities for women entrepreneurs.

These platforms include training, mentorship and networking events to build knowledge in business management and access to markets, as well as assistance in business formalization.
