Sustainable Development Goals are taking shape faster than expected in attaining gender equality as 2030 draws nigh. One such example is Zambia, Africa’s red metal hotspot that has seen an acceleration in women landing top positions both in the C-suite and at board level. Local accounting, the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants – ZICA recorded its debut female President defying all odds. This result was an autopsy of the recently held polls on Saturday October 17th in Livingstone the tourist capital. Zimba succeeds Jason Kazilimani.

Cecilia Zimba is a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accounts – ACCA and holds a Master of Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School of Herriot Watt University. Additionally she has attended executive education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology – MIT.

While serving on key boards such as, of the Zambia Revenue Authority – ZRA and Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank – ZICB, Zimba is a finance and governance consultant.

Prior to ascension to the top role on the ZICA board she served as Vice President. She adds to the inventory of power women the year 2020 has seen.
